Callum McLeod studied at the Royal Academy of Music and in his final year was awarded the Chappell Gold Medal for piano recital. Since then he has worked in all aspects of the music business both nationally and internationally. He has subsequently been awarded an ARAM.


He is co-founder and a Managing Director of the British Philharmonic Orchestra which has supported many international artists including Michael Ball, Dame Shirley Bassey, Andrea Bocelli, Alfie Boe, Josh Groban, Katherine Jenkins, Rod Stewart and Bryn Terfel.

As Musical Director for Michael Ball, Callum has orchestrated and conducted many national and international tours, Gala concerts, TV and Radio specials working with orchestras including the BBC Welsh, BBC Concert, and the Royal Philharmonic. On New Year's Eve 1999 Callum conducted the YTL Concert Of Celebration in Malaysia where Michael Ball, Andrea Griminelli and Gillian Humphreys performed with the 120 piece Italian I.S.O. to an audience of more than 150,000.

He conducted Michael Ball's hugely successful tours of Australia as well as his two sell-out concerts in Salt Lake City USA. He has orchestrated tracks for Michael's Gold and Platinum selling albums and conducted the two best selling DVD's 'Michael Ball Live At The Royal Albert Hall' and 'Michael Ball Live In London' (Hammersmith). In August of 2007 he conducted the BBC Concert Orchestra for Michael's sensational Promenade concert, televised live from the Royal Albert Hall.

Callum has worked as musical supervisor, arranger and conductor on several occasions for Bryn Terfel's Faenol Festival, devising programmes starring Bryn Terfel, Audra McDonald, Michael Ball, Connie Fisher, Ruthie Henshall and John Owen Jones, all televised live by BBC Wales.

 

He has devised and conducted concerts at major UK outdoor venues including Hampton Court, Audley End, Kenwood House and Leeds Castle. He also conducted the Royal Albert Hall debut of Reba McEntire - one of America's foremost recording artists having sold over 40 million albums.

Most recently as Musical Director for Michael Ball he has worked on Michael's 'Coming Home To You' UK tour and the Ball & Boe tours and concerts in the UK, Australia, Japan and New York.


He has composed and produced music for Film, TV and Video. Clients include AT&T, BMG Films, General Motors, Legal and General, Microsoft, Prudential, Royal Insurance, Sony and Unilever. He arranged and conducted the TV signature tunes for London Today, London Tonight, Cross Talk and Carlton Sport. He has worked on all the major television networks and on numerous occasions has been the Musical Director and arranger for the BBC's National Lottery Draw. 

 

His West End credits as Conductor and Musical Director include Peter Pan (Aldwych), The Magistrate (National Theatre), Judy (Strand) and The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty's).


Callum is the composer of Carmen Latina, the rock/salsa version of Bizet's Carmen and also collaborated with the legendary Graeme Garden on a musical comedy piece for theatre, Pocket Orchestra which premiered at the Trafalgar Studios, London. Both pieces have received wide critical acclaim.
